Refugee Garden Arts Program

  • Iskashitaa Refugee Network 3736 East 2nd Street Tucson, AZ, 85716 United States (map)

The Refugee Garden Art Program brings together UN refugees, asylum seekers, volunteers, to share space, culture, and healing! We are joined by a variety of community organizations, monthly resident art mediators/ practitioners, and garden educators. We start the morning gardening (watering, harvesting, planting, wedding and building community). Next we have resident art practitioners that lead an art project, healing music therapy or other group activity, focused on self expression, community building, and language practice!

Exploring cultural identities and communities through art with Resident Art Mediator Katrina Kerstetter. Inspired by our daily lives, working alongside others in the garden, and picture books provided by Katrina's Library Koru, the volunteers and refugees are free to create in any medium. It is born of inspiration.
