Harvest With Iskashitaa
Refugee Garden Art Program
The Refugee Garden Art Program (RGAP) brings together UN Refugees, volunteers, and a variety of community organizations, local practitioners, and art educators to share space, culture, and healing! We spend the first half tending to our garden of native and culturally traditional plants and the second half is spent learning from our community partners or participating in an art project or group activity, focused on self expression, community building, and language practice!
We meet every Wednesday from 8-11am at the Iskashitaa garden at 3736 E. 2nd St. The entrance to our garden is located on the north side of St. Mark’s Presbyterian Church, connected to the parking lot with solar panels, and is to the right of the playground.
We ask you to please fill out a volunteer waiver and you can reserve your spot here!
1st Wednesdays of the month: Afro-Caribbean Drum Circle with Denise Bey. Join us for a fun morning of drumming, dancing, and playing a variety of instruments from around the world!
3rd Wednesdays of the month: Mind Body Art Storytelling Workshop with UofA Professor Aurelia Mouzet. Body Mind Art is a workshop that combines physical training, body expression, improv theatre, and meditation, allowing participants to experience a collective multisensory experience where creativity meets well-being.
If you are a professional or potential partner organization that would like to lead a presentation or workshop at RGAP, please email information@Iskashitaa.org so we can provide adequate resources and support.
